BRIDGEWATER - Three throwers from the Tufts men's track & field team kicked off their outdoor seasons with some impressive marks at the non-scoring Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday.
Fresh off his trip to the indoor NCAA championship, junior Curtis Yancy (St. Louis, MO) won the discuss title at Bridgewater with his toss of 141'2" (43.02m). He also recorded a runner-up finish in the hammer throw with his heave of 163'1" (49.70m).
Senior co-captain Adam Aranson (Norwood, MA) notched three high finishes. His throw of 122'6" (37.34m) in the discuss was good enough for sixth. His highest finish, however, was in the hammer throw. He placed third, right behind Yancy, with a toss of 162'2" (49.43m). In the shot put, Aronson took eighth with a throw of 40'0 1/2" (12.20m).
Senior Andre Figueroa (Bronx, NY) was also in action for Tufts. His toss of 35'3 3/4" (10.76m) was good enough for 16th in the shot put.
The throwers in action on Saturday will look to build off these solid baseline performances as the season progresses.
Next Saturday, coach Ethan Barron's team will reconvene as a full squad to host the Snowflake Invitational at Ellis Oval.
