PRINCETON, NJ - Three juniors represented the Tufts men's track & field team at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University on Friday and Saturday.
The meet was an opportunity for the Jumbos to compete against stellar competition from all divisions and notch early-season qualifying marks for championship meets.
Junior Jeff Marvel (Naples, FL) won the 1,500 with a time of 3:54.65. That currently ranks ninth nationally, but will have to be improved upon in order to qualify for the NCAA Championship.
Classmate Kyle Marks (Carmel, IN) notched a time of 14:48.34 in the 5,000, which was a six-second personal best and placed 29th at the meet. Junior Tyler Andrews (Concord, MA) also fared well in a long distance event. He placed 25th in the 10,000 with a time of 30:57.93, a 42-second personal best.
These athletes will look to build off these stellar early-season performances as the season progresses.
They will rejoin their teammates next weekend in the Skyhawk Classic at Stonehill College.
