CAMBRIDGE - The Jumbo men's track and field team notched several top-five finishes in the un-scored Gordon Kelley Invitational at MIT on Saturday.
While the majority of Tufts' track athletes competed at Boston University, a handful of field athletes recorded stellar performances across town.
Junior Brian Williamson (Prairie Village, KS) and sophomore Atticus Swett (Bow, NH) were once again productive in the circle. The duo placed second and third in the shot put with heaves of 49' 10" (15.18m) and 48' 0" (14.64m) respectively. Swett also took third in the weight throw with his distance of 47' 5 ¾" (14.47m).
Two Tufts freshmen fared well in the 60 meter hurdles. Thomas Wang (Scotch Plains, NJ) took second in a time of 9.07, while Dan Camilletti (Oakville, ON) clocked a time of 9.40 to place sixth.
In the 60 meter dash, sophomore Bryson Hoover-Hankerson (Owings Mills, MD) placed sixth in a time of 7.29. On the runway, he leaped 21' 2 ½" (6.46m) to place fifth.
Junior Mitchell Stallman (Amherst, NH) and freshman Pietro Possenti (Genova, Italy) took sixth and seventh in the pole vault respectively, as they both cleared the bar at 13' 1 ½" (4.00m).
Coach Ethan Barron's team will have one more week to tune up before championship season begins on Feb. 21. Next weekend, the Jumbos will return home to host the Tufts Cupid Challenge at the Gantcher Center.
