Wade Hauser had two hits and scored three runs for the Jumbos

GREENSBORO, NC - The Tufts baseball team kept on rolling Thursday afternoon scoring 19 runs on 13 hits and nine walks in a 19-5 victory over Greensboro College. The game was played at Guilford, whom Tufts beat earlier in the day 9-0 for a two-win Thursday.
The Jumbos got on the board first with four runs in the top half of the first inning. Senior Max Freccia hit a two-run home run to power the strong start for Tufts. Greensboro pushed one across making the score 4-1 after one full inning of play. Cody York led off the home half of the inning with an infield single before crossing the plate following a Blake Throneburg fielder's choice.
The Jumbos would then plate the next 15 runs to pull out to a 19-1 lead. In an incredible second inning, they sent 13 men to the plate and scored eight runs without a hit. They worked five walks, were hit by three pitches and took advantage of two Pride errors.
Junior Nick Barker hit a solo home run with one out in the third for a 13-1 Tufts advantage. The Jumbos added three more in the fourth, keyed by a two-run double by Barker and it was 16-1. They got to 19 with three more in the fifth, including a two-run double by pinch hitter Carter Bidwick.
Greensboro was able to plate four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning before falling 19-5 in a game that was shortened to seven innings due to the score. Andrew Hernandez opened the bottom of the inning with a leadoff single before coming to score following a Aaron Matthews ground out. Following the Matthews rbi, Brandon Soden found the outfield gap plating two more Pride runs before scoring the game's final run on a Rett Martin single.
For Tufts, Freccia was 2 for 5 with three runs and three rbis while Barker finished 2 for 2 with three rbis and two runs. Freshman Oscar Kutch was a big contributor as well at 2 for 4 with three runs and two rbis. Senior DH Wade Hauser added a 2 for 3 game with three runs and an rbi. Connor McDavitt and Eric Robinson both scored twice.
Greensboro College collected nine hits on the day with Martin and Hernandez leading the way with two hits apiece. Soden finished with two rbi's on the day.
Freshman starter Tim Superko was able to breeze through his start for Tufts, allowing four hits and one run with six strikeouts and two walks in five innings.
Tufts is now 8-0 heading into tomorrow's game at Lynchburg. With the loss, Greensboro falls to 2-13 overall and will return to action this weekend against the Scots of Covenant.
