DELAWARE, OH - Sophomore Mitchell Black of the Tufts men's outdoor track & field team ran the fifth-fastest time in the 800-meter preliminaries on Friday to advance to the final of the NCAA Championship at Ohio Wesleyan University.

Black grabbed one of the six automatic qualifying spots by finishing second in his heat with a time of 1:50.79. He will be one of the eight athletes toeing the line in Saturday's 3:45 pm final. Last year he placed seventh in the event for All-American honors.

Seniors Jamie Norton and Ben Wallis will also be in action for the Jumbos on Saturday. Wallis is one of 14 athletes competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase final at 1:20 pm. Norton is slated to compete in the 12-man 1,500 meter final at 2:15 pm. They both ran qualifying times on Thursday.
