Six in South Carolina to Kick Off Outdoor Track & Field Season at Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Six members of the Tufts track & field team competed on the opening day of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Caroline University on Thursday.

Throwers Brian Williamson, Atticus Swett and Ife Adebayo along with decathletes Allan Yau and Alex Karys were in action at the beautiful Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. The meet runs Thursday through Saturday.

Williamson led the throwing trio in the hammer throw with a 146-8 (44.71m) mark. He was 20th out of 48 competitors overall. Swett's best was 119-5 (36.39m) for 32nd and Adebayo launched a 113-2 (34.50m) for 36th.

Five events of the decathlon were finished on Thursday. Yau's 715 points in the 100 meters was the best Tufts performance. He ran 11.68 seconds to take seventh out of 17 runners. Yau accumulated 2,978 points and Karys has 2,928 halfway through the event.
