SOMERVILLE - Senior Brian Williamson scored in three throwing events to lead the Jumbo men's outdoor track and field team to a win in the annual Snowflake Classic on Saturday.
Tufts' 111.5 points bested the 22-team field. Northeastern and Bridgewater State rounded out the top-three with 100 and 91 points, respectively.
Williamson accounted for 19 of those 111.5 points. He placed second in the discus (127'9" - 38.94m), third in the shot put (47'2 1/2 - 14.39m), and fourth in the hammer (157'0" - 47.86m).
Freshman Stefan Duvivier also scored in multiple field events, as he took fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 42'7" (12.98m) and fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 6'2" (1.88m). In the long jump, junior Bryson Hoover Hankerson leaped 20'9 1/4" (6.33m) for sixth.
On the track, Tufts scored 33 points in the 10,000, as senior Colin McCrory (31:58.44), sophomore Tim Nichols (32:03.34), junior Michael Curley (32:37.90) and senior Nick Guarnaccia (32:48.76) grabbed the top four spots. Senior Greg Hardy took sixth in 32:58.30, while junior Michael Caughron clocked a time of 33:19.82 for eighth.
The Jumbos were also very successful in the 800, as senior Evan Cover (1:59.72), junior Alex Apostolides (2:03.19), senior Marshall Pagano (2:03.62) and sophomore Luke O'Connor (2:03.99) finished in the second through fifth positions.
O'Connor was also able grab eighth in the 1,500 with his time of 4:07.67. Sophomore Ty Enos took fifth in a time of 4:06.39. In the 400, junior Francis Goins clocked a time of 50.69 for third.
Coach Ethan Barron's team will look for more solid early-season performances next weekend when most of the squad competes at the Amherst College Invite, while a few athletes will head south to take part in the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton.
