Bhalla Improves 800 National Qualifying Time at Tufts Last Chance Meet

Pietro Possenti had a season-best 13'2 1/4" in the pole vault

MEDFORD - Junior Veer Bhalla of the Tufts men's indoor track & field team took advantage of the Last Chace Meet hosted at the Gantcher Center on Friday by improving his NCAA qualifying time in the 800 meters.

Bhalla ran a 1:53.01 time to win the 800 and improved to #7 on the list of NCAA Div. III competitors in the event. He moved up from 10th place in the 800 last week with a 1:53.90 time. Bhalla was first in today's race which featured 15 entrants.

Freshman Stefan Duvivier, who recently joined the track team after basketball season ended, made a big splash in his debut clearing a Tufts season-best 6'6" (1.98m) in the high jump.

The team's best marks in the 3,000 meters and pole vault were also hit today. Sophomore Luke O'Connor timed 8:31.13 and classmate Pietro Possenti cleared 13'2 1/4" (4.20m), respectively.
