CAMBRIDGE - Sophomore Tim Nichols ran a personal-best time and placed second in the 10,000 meters on Friday at the All-New England Championship hosted by MIT.
Nichols' mark of 30:55.23 was bested only by Amherst's Mohamed Hussein (30:43.89) and currently puts Nichols in the top 30 nationally. Seniors Greg Hardy and Colin McCrory backed Nichols in 11th and 12th with times of 31:36.13 and 31:47.75, respectively.
In the circle, senior Brian Williamson recorded a top-10 finish in the hammer throw with his distance of 166'4" (50.69m). Freshman Nick Usoff threw the javelin 161' 3" (49.15m) for 18th place.
Usoff was also able to clock a time of 59.04 in the 400 hurdles to place 32nd. Sophomore Henry Zhou was just ahead in 29th with his time of 57.01. In the flat 400, junior Alex Kasemir's time of 50.53 was good enough for 26th.
