MEDFORD – Tufts University Men's Track & Field juniors Thomas Wang and Pietro Possenti competed in the first four events of the Tufts Stampede Heptathlon on Friday.
The 60-meter dash, long jump, shot put and high jump were contested today. The heptathlon will conclude with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000 meters on Saturday.
Wang totaled 2,480 points in Friday's four events. His top score came in the 60-meter dash where his time of 7.49 seconds earned 716 points. He was the runner-up among 14 competitors in the high jump, clearing 6'0 ¾" (1.85m) for 670 points. He also nabbed 610 points with a 20'0 1/2" (6.11m) long jump.
Possenti had the top score out of the two with 769 points in the 60-meter dash with a 7.33 time. He has a 2,339 total through Friday.
Wang is third and Possenti is fifth through four events. Franklin Pierce's Vinny Biunno leads with 2,751 points, while Worcester State's Duy Truong is next at 2,531. Mark Hamalian from Stonehill is fourth with a 2,476 score.
