Box Score HAMPTON, VA - Freshman R.J. Hall pitched a three-hit shutout as the Tufts baseball team improved to 6-3 on its spring trip with a 4-0 win at the Apprentice School on Saturday afternoon.

Hall struck out nine and did not walk a batter while allowing Builders' base hits in the second, third, and eighth innings. Only one Builder touched second base in the game. Sophomore Jumbo Nick Falkson drove home a pair to lead Tufts offensively.
Hall and Apprentice's Taylor Gomer went toe-to-toe for the first three innings at 0-0. The Jumbos broke through with a pair in the fourth. Senior SS Matt Moser led off with a walk and took third on a Tommy O'Hara single and Mike McLaughlin ground out. Falkson followed with an rbi single and O'Hara scored on a Builders' error.
The 2-0 score stayed until the late innings. In the Tufts eighth, Moser doubled and scored on Falkson's single making it 3-0. Harry Brown singled to lead off the ninth and came around on a single by freshman catcher Harrison Frickman and a fielder's choice by senior CF Cody McCallum for a 4-0 advantage.
Hall finished off his shutout with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Tufts' eight-hit attack featured two hits by Falkson and Brown and two runs by Moser.
Gomer allowed three runs (two earned) in 7.2 innings for Apprentice (10-15).
The Jumbos, winners of four of five, finish their spring trip on Sunday at Virginia Wesleyan. First pitch is at 1 pm. Apprentice next plays on Tuesday at Mary Washington.
