MEDFORD, MA (June 23, 2026) -- Senior catcher
Malcolm Whitfield was recently named as an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III All-Defensive Team for the 2026 season.
Whitfield was one of three players within the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), as he was named to the Region I All-Defensive Team for the second time in his career. The NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year for the second time in his career in 2026, Whitfield was just the second player every to earn the award twice in their collegiate career.
The senior caught five runners stealing and in 296 fielding chances he only had two errors on the season to capture a .993 fielding percentage which ranks eighth in the NESCAC. Whitfield also posted a .280 batting average with 31 RBI and leads the team with 21 stolen bases.
Whitfield helped the Jumbos to a marked turnaround in 2026, as the Jumbos won the NESCAC title in 2026 and hosted an NCAA Tournament Regional for the first time in program history.
