MEDFORD - Ten Jumbos were in action on Friday at the New England Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Springfield College.
Freshman Josh Etkind qualified for the final in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.61 seconds. He was the seventh of eight qualifiers who moved on to Saturday's final.
Sophomore Peter Clark just missed a spot in the finals of the 100 meters. His 11.21 time in the preliminaries on Friday tied with Coast Guard's Tyler Templeton. Clark lost a run-off for the eighth and final qualifying spot.
Tufts had six runners in the 100 meters overall, with senior Bryson Hoover-Hankerson taking 10th behind Clark in 11.24 seconds.
Sophomore John Greenberg ran 17th in the 10,000 meters with a 33:10.92 time. Freshman Henry Hintermeister was 20th in the 110-hurdles heats. Senior Michael Paloian was entered in the hammer throw, but fouled on each of his three attempts.
The bulk of the New England DIII Championships will be competed tomorrow.
