Three Run in Elite Distance Events for Men's Track & Field at Connecticut College Friday

Colin Raposo ran one of the nation's 25 best 1,500's Friday night

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Sophomore Colin Raposo of the Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team ran a career-best 3:56.32 in the 1,500 meters at Connecticut College's Silfen Invitational on Friday night.

Raposo was joined by sophomore Hiroto Watanabe and freshman Roman Lovell, who both competed in the 800 meters, in the Elite Distance Events part of the meet on Friday night.

Fourth out of 56 runners in the 1,500 race, Raposo's time ranks 22nd among Division III runners thus far through the outdoor season. It's Tufts' top time in the event this season for Raposo, who posted the team's best marks in the 1,000 meters (2:29.43) and in the mile (4:16.92) for the indoor season.

Watanabe and Lovell both finished in the top 10 for the 800 meters on Friday night. The race had 52 finishers overall. Watanabe posted a 1:56.07 for sixth place and Lovell came across the finish line ninth in 1:56.46. Watanabe's time is Tufts' best for the season so far.

The Silfen Invitational continued on Saturday. With Tufts only competing in these distance events, they did not qualify for the team scoring competition.
