Christian Trebisacci had the team's best discus throw this season

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team piled up 129 points including winning five events to place first at the 2018 Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.

The Jumbos had scored 27 points in four events on Friday and continued their strong performance on Saturday to win the meet featuring 19 teams. Stonehill was the second-place team with a 110.5 score.

Tufts' victories came from junior Josh Etkind in the 110-meter hurdles (15.21), senior co-captain Drew DiMaiti in the 400-meter hurdles (53.79), sophomore Kevin Quisumbing in the shot put (50-7 ½" – 15.43m), senior Stefan Duvivier in the high jump (6'6" – 1.98m) and senior Linus Gordon in the long jump (21'2 ¾" – 6.47m).

Quisumbing's effort marked the first time he has topped 50 feet outdoors, and his throw is ranked #22 nationally as of 8:15 p.m. Saturday night. He has won the shot three weeks in a row now. Similarly, Etkind's 110h victory was his second in as many weeks and DiMaiti has not lost in four 400h starts this spring. Duvivier, the NCAA indoor champion his event, and Gordon won for the first time this spring.
