CAMBRIDGE – Senior co-captain Benji Wallace matched his career-best in the pole vault again and junior Kevin Quisumbing PR'd in the weight throw to highlight the Tufts University men's indoor track & field team's efforts at the Gordon Kelly Invitational hosted by MIT on Saturday.
Wallace cleared 15'5" (4.70m) to win the vault at MIT. It matched his height from the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association meet last weekend as the #20 mark in the nation.
Quisumbing's 51'0" (15.54m) heave in the weight was fourth at the meet. It was the team's season-best in addition to being his PR. He was also the runner-up in the shot put at 47'0 ¼" (14.33m) on Saturday.
Sophomore Vincent Avallone won the 600 meters race for Tufts with a 1:26.17 PR. In the first indoor victory of his career, he was the first of four straight Jumbos to finish the race. Freshman Jack Hirsch was 0.02 behind Avallone with a 1:26.19 time for second place.
Senior Henry Hintermeister scored 4,071 points in the heptathlon event. He tallied 710 points for a 2:55.38 mark in the 1,000 meters and 666 for a 9.37 time in the 60-meter hurdles.
Seniors Charles Pennington and James Gregoire were fourth in the high jump (6'0 ¾" – 1.85m) and the long jump (20'11 ¾" – 6.39m), respectively. Junior Ranjit Thomas went 40'7 ½" (12.37m) for fourth in the TJ.
