Men's Track & Field Competes on 1st Day of Connecticut College Meet

Rory Buckman ran sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase today.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior Dylan Jones ran a PR in the 5,000 meters as the Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team competed on the first of two days at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College on Friday.

Competing in the Elite 5,000 meters race, Jones' 14:52.43 was four seconds faster than his previous best (14:56.51). He was fifth at the race with the #26 mark in Division III as of 9:30 pm Friday night.

Freshman Nick Delaney had a team season-best in the 1,500 with a 3:58.29 finish. He was fifth in the race and it's a top 50 national time. Senior Rory Buckman's 9:49.43 was sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Outside of the 10K, in which Tufts did not have an entry, the Elite distance events tonight did not count towards the team scoring.

Tufts scored one point in the three events that were scored today. Senior co-captain Henry Hintermesiter placed eighth in the javelin throw with 152'2" (46.38m) distance.

Day two of the Silfen meet starts at 8 am on Saturday.
