MEDFORD – Senior Matt D'Anieri won the 1,000 meters race with a personal-record time to lead the Tufts University men's indoor track & field team at the Tufts Jumbo Invitational in the Gantcher Center on Saturday.

Competing in the team's season-opener, D'Anieri timed 2:30.08 to win the 1,000 and improve upon his previous best of 2:30.93 in the event. Sophomore Nick Delaney was second in the race also with a PR of 1:24.69.
The Jumbo 4x400-meter relay put down a nationally-ranked time of 3:29.21. The foursome had senior Jordan Abate leading off, junior Vincent Avallone second, sophomore Sam Oomen-Lochtefeld third and freshman Willy White in the anchor role. Their mark was second in the race and ranks 32nd for Division III early in the 2019-20 indoor season. White, making his collegiate debut, additionally placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.71) and sixth in the 200 meters (23.86).
Junior Daeseob Lim was second in the pole vault with a 13'1 ½" (4.00m) best effort. Freshman Hunter Farrell was third eventually clearing the same height as Lim. The Jumbos also had a 2-3 finish in the 600 with freshman Marcus Hardy scoring second (1:23.41) and Oomen-Lochtefeld in third (1:24.69).
Tufts had a pair of high scorers in the long and triple jumps. Freshman Amos Trinidad went 20'8 ½" (6.31m) in the long jump for second place and sophomore Alex Zsikla's 43'7 ¼" (13.29m) took third in the triple.
Senior thrower Dylan Daisey hit a PR with his 48'6 ¼" (14.79m) in the weight throw. Senior co-captain Harry Steinberg also had a fourth with his 3,000-meters finish of 9:01.95.
The Jumbos did not compete with their full line-up and finished with a 134.5 score, behind first-place Bridgewater State (154.5) and runner-up Coast Guard (140).
Tufts will send competitors to both Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic and the Wheaton College Invitational next weekend (Jan. 24-25).
