SPRINGFIELD – The Tufts University men's indoor track & field team's distance medley relay (DMR) finished sixth on the first day of the New England Division III Championships hosted by Springfield College on Friday.
The Jumbo foursome of senior Dylan McEniry, senior co-captain Billy Witrock, junior Aiden Lewis and senior Taylor Wurts put together a 10:25.29 time. The mark was ranked 19th nationally as of 7:00 pm Friday night.
Tufts freshman Hunter Farrell tied for fifth place in the pole vault on Friday with a 14'5 ¼" (4.40m) effort. Jumbo sophomore Neerav Gade added a point for his eighth-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a 15:13.66 PR.
The first four events of the heptathlon were also contested on Friday. Freshman Carter Rosewell sits fifth with a 2,632 score and sophomore Ben Stein is eighth (2,584). Rosewell ran 7.33 in the 60-meter dash (769 points) and had a 21'11 ¾" (6.70m) long jump for 743 points. Stein hit PR's in the 60 (7.49) and high jump (6'2 ¼" – 1.89m).
With the 7.5 team points scored on Friday, Tufts is in seventh place heading into Saturday's action at the meet.
