HARTFORD - Freshman Luke Botsford won a pair of races and classmate Jackson O'Toole ran a top 25 national time as the Tufts University men's track & field team won a quad meet at Trinity College on Saturday.
Three meets into his collegiate career, Botsford now has six victories (five individual, one relay) after taking the 200 and 400 meters today. He ran 22.09 and 49.29 marks, respectively.
Tufts' top performance came from O'Toole, whose 1:53.45 in the 800 meters is the #22 ranked time in the country as of Saturday night. He was second in the event at Trinity. Jumbo runners placed second through seventh in the 8, including Evan Ensslin's 1:55.05 for third.
The 4x400-meter relay ran a season-best 3:25.10 lining up with Aiden Lewis, Walter Wagude, Collin O'Sullivan and and Ensslin. Senior thrower Dylan Daisey won the hammer at 133'3" (40.61m), also a Tufts-best mark in the event this season. Other team-bests for the year were submitted by Amos Trinidad in the 100 (11.48) and Ryan Proulx in the 1,500 (4:03.68).
Ten first-place points were contributed by Jack Clohisy with a 16.51 in the 110 hurdles, Liam Garrison for the pole vault (13'9 ¼" - 4.20m), Trinidad's 21'8 ¼" (6.61m) long jump and Reid Corless at a 41'6" (12.65m) triple.
The Jumbos accumulated 226 points to win, followed by the host Bantams at 121, Wesleyan's 84 and Connecticut College with 68.
