WILLIAMSTOWN - Senior Peter Horvath and junior Alexander Zsikla won events as the Tufts men's outdoor track & field team competed at Williams College with Amherst College and Middlebury College on Saturday.
Horvath won the 3,000-meter steeplechase which had seven runners start. His PR time of 9:35.98 is five seconds faster than hia previous best of 9:41.18 that he ran at Tufts last week. Today's mark is the Tufts season-best. Zsikla won the five-man triple jump today with 43'10 ¾" (13.38m) distance that is also the 2021-best for the Jumbos.
Jumbos Hunter Farrell in the pole vault and Carter Rosewell in the long jump both had runner-up finishes today. Farrell cleared 14'5 ½" (4.41m) for an outdoor PR and a Tufts season-best. Roswell's 21'9 ½" (6.64m) led Jumbo long jumpers today.
Sophomore Evan Ensslin hit an outdoor PR in the 800 meters with his 1:53.56 finish for third place. Freshman Walter Wagude posted season-low times in both the 800 (1:54.28) and the 15 (4:01.80), in which he was third. Junior Joseph Harmon crossed the finish line for the 10K in a personal-best 32:00.18.
Other season-bests notched by Jumbo freshmen was a 15:20.68 in the 5K for Nate Oakes and a 120'0" (36.59m) heave in the discus by Louis Tuccio.
Tufts junior co-captain Ben Stein competed in five decathlon events today, but will not return to finish the multi-event competition on Sunday. He cleared 6'3 ½" (1.92m) in the high jump for a PR and 731 points while compiling a 3,199 total in the five events. His 11.80 time in the decathlon 100 meters (691) was also a career-best.
