MEDFORD - Alex Zsikla submitted a nationally-ranked triple jump and Harry Rienecker-Found continued to win in the high jump as the Tufts University men's indoor track & field team took first place at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational held inside the Gantcher Center today.
Zsikla had a 45'3 ¾" (13.81m) PR in the triple jump to win the event and earn a #30 national ranking. He was the first of three top finishers for Tufts in the event. Rienecker-Found cleared 6'8" (2.03m) to win the high jump, improving his seacond-record to 3-0.
Tufts scored 192 team points to win the 10-team meet. They outdistanced NEWMAC foes WPI (109.5) and MIT (94.5).
Carter Rosewell and Amos Trinidad had big scoring days for the Jumbos. Rosewell won his first career 400 in 52.98 seconds, was third in the long jump at 20'3" (6.17m) and also finaled in the 60-meter hurdles with a 9.00 in the prelims. Trinidad was the runner-up in the 60-meter dash (7.20) and in the long jump (20'9 ¼" / 6.33m).
Chris Tilton won the 600 in his collegiate track debut with a time of 1:24.58. He was the first of the top four Jumbo finishers, and Tufts had six of the top seven in the event overall. Tufts' 4x4 of Ethan Forde, Noah Turner, Sawyer Wilson and Andrii Campbell won an eight-team race with a 3:29.55 mark. Forde was also second in the 6 (1:25.28).
Freshman Petey Lemmon's 46'10 ¾" (14.29m) was the team's season-best thus far, as were the marks by Connor Giersch in the 5K (16:02.322) and Marcus Hardy in the 1,000 (2:41.36).
