BOSTON, MA (December 3, 2022) – Junior
Luke Botsford won the 400 meters race as the Tufts men's track & field team began its 2022-23 season at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener meet on Saturday.
Botsford ran a time of 49.14 seconds that led a field of 25 runners including Division I and Club competitors. Jermaine Dwight from the Moore Elite Track Club was second in 49.65 seconds.
Jumbo senior
Alex Lemieux was third in the 400 recording a time of 49.75 seconds.
Senior
Drew Svoboda also had a strong debut for Tufts, finishing as the runner-up in the long jump. His 6.84m (22-5 ¼) distance was behind only BU's Ryan Rosenberger (6.87m, 22-6 ½). Jumbo senior
Carter Rosewell also competed in the long jump and was ninth in the 17-man field at 6.26m (20-6 ½).
Tufts will return to action next month when the Jumbos host their first invitational of the indoor season at the Gantcher Center on January 14.
