MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Carter Rosewell of the Tufts University men's indoor track & field team is in second place in the heptathlon after four events today at the New England Division III Championships hosted by Middlebury College.
Roswell scored 2638 points in the 60-meter dash, the long jump, the shot put and the high jump combined, and is just 12 points behind the leader Jackson Anderson from Williams College (2650). Tufts captain Ben Stein is fourth (2595) out of 12 total competitors.
In the 60 meters, Rosewell ran 7.27 seconds (PR) to score 789 points today. He also added 695 points with a 21'3 ½" (6.49m) long jump. He PR'd in the shot put with 34'7" (10.54m) distance for 518 ponts and also matched his collegiate best in the high jump clearing 5'11 ¼" (1.81m) for 636 points.
Stein tallied 723 with his 7.47 in the 60 meters and earned a 720 score with a 21'8" (6.60m) long jump. The heptathlon finishes tomorrow with the 60-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000-meter run.
Tufts also had entries in the distance medley relay (DMR), the pole vault and the 5,000 meters today. The DMR of Jackson O'Toole, Sam Oomen-Lochtefeld, Marcus Hardy and Walter Wagude timed 10:35.19 for 10th place. Hunter Farrell was 15th in the vault (13'7 ¼" - 4.15m) and Sam Gatti ran 15:30.86 in the 5,000 (19th place).
