MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Harry Rienecker-Found and Alex Lemieux won titles as the Tufts University men's indoor track & field team placed third at the 2022 New England Division III Championships hosted by Middlebury College on Saturday.
Rienecker-Found in the high jump escalated to a career-high 6'9" (2.06m) for the victory. After succeeding at 6'7" (2.01m) in the last of his three attempts, he got over the bar at 6'9" in his first try to defeat Cameron Rodgers from Mass.-Dartmouth. The Jumbo's mark is ranked #8 nationally.
Lemieux won the 200 meters in a time of 21.91 seconds, was second in the 60-meter dash (6.90 seconds) and led off the runner-up 4x400-meter relay on Saturday. He teamed up with Ethan Forde, Noah Turner and Andrii Campbell for a 3:25.08 mark in the 4x4.
Captain Ben Stein (pictured) had an outstanding day in the three remaining events of the heptathlon to finish second overall with a 4664 score that is his career-best. The total ranks 16th nationally in the multi. He had a 9.15 time in the 60 hurdles for 713 points on Saturday, vaulted 12'3 1/2" (3.75m) for 549 points and finished strong with a 2:46.07 time in the 1,000 meters for 807 points. Jumbo Carter Rosewell placed sixth in the multi with a 4125 score, including PR's in the 60 hurdles (8.97) and 1,000 (2:52.92) on Saturday.
Campbell led two Jumbos who scored in the 600-meter race. His 1:23.30 was fifth and Sawyer Wilson had a 1:24.15 PR for eighth place. Excellent sixth-place efforts were put forth by Louis Tuccio in the shot put with a 47'11" (14.60m) heave, by Turner in the 400 with a 51.07 PR and by Alex Zsikla in the triple jump (44'11 3/4" - 13.71m).
Tufts' third-place finish matches their placement from 2020. The meet was canceled due to COVID-19 in 2021.
The Jumbos will host the Tufts National Qualifying Meet at the Gantcher Center next Saturday.
