Rosewell Second Through Four Events in Home Heptathlon

MEDFORD - Junior Carter Rosewell of the Tufts University men's indoor track & field team is in second place after one day of the heptathlon competition at the Branwen Smith-King Multi held at Tufts University's Gantcher Center on Friday.

In the four events completed on Friday, Rosewell scored 2612 points. He is behind only Troy Colleran from Amherst, who accumulated a 2841 score. Andrew Sifferlen from WPI is third (2535).

In a group of 10 competitors overall, Rosewell had the best time in the 60-meter dash (7.28) and the best mark in the long jump at 22'2 1/2" (6.77m). He scored 785 and 760 points in those events, respectively. He also had a 29'10" (9.09m) shot put for 431 points and a 5'11 1/4" (1.81m) high jump for 636 points. The 60, long jump and high jump marks are all PR's.

Tufts' Cole Anderson and Nik Karns are also in the heptathlon. Anderson's 8.01 in the 60-meter dash helped him compile 1840 points. Karns ran 7.47 in the 60 as part of his 1715-point overall performance.

The heptathlon will finish on Saturday with the 60-meter hurdles, the pole vault and the 1,000-meter run.
