WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Tufts University junior Alex Lemieux and sophomore Harry Rienecker-Found finished the indoor track & field season as All-Americans following their performances at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday. Rienecker-Found tied for fifth in the high jump and Lemieux was sixth in the 200 meters.
Rienecker-Found was perfect in this first three jumps of the day, clearing the bar at 6'3 1/2" (1.92m), 6'5 1/2" (1.97m) and 6'6 3/4" (2.00m). He missed on his first attempt at 6'7 3/4" (2.03m), but made the second which put him into the top seven and guaranteed him All-American honors. He was unable to clear 6'9" (2.06m) on any of his three attempts, but finished tied for fifth in the nation. The only NESCAC competitor in the event, he also finished as New England's best for the 2022 indoor season. He scored the Jumbos' first team points of the meet with 3.5 for the fifth-place tie.
Lemieux, who had qualified for the 200 final in the preliminaries on Friday, ran 22.01 seconds in the final for sixth place today. He scored three team points and was first in New England and NESCAC for the event nationally.
The All-American accolade is the first for both Jumbos.
Senior co-captain Ben Stein also finished up the heptathlon on Saturday with 4514 points for 15th place. He tied is PR in the pole vault with a 12'9 1/2" (3.90m) make on Saturday for 590 points. His 9.07 time in the 60-meter hurdles scored 730 points and his 2:47.17 time for the 1,000 meters was second in the NCAA heptathlon field (795 points).
The 6.5 team points scored by Rienecker-Found and Lemieux put Tufts in a tie for 31st place at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
