MEDFORD - Sophomore Luke Botsford won the 100- and 200-meter dash races, and was part of two relay wins, to lead the Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team at a quad meet versus Bates, MIT and RPI on Saturday at Dussault Track. The Jumbos placed third as a team.
Botsford ran 21.81 in the 200 for the win, slightly shy of the 21.62 season-best he had at the Aztec Invitational on March 24. His 100-meters winning mark today was 10.94 seconds. Botsford also anchored the Jumbos 4x400-meter relay which won with a time of 3:27.96. He was joined by Noah Turner, Willy White and Andrii Campbell (pictured). Tufts also won the 4x100, which they finished in 42.70 seconds with a foursome of Alex Zsikla, Alex Lemieux, Naheim Washington and Botsford.
The top national mark of the meet for the Jumbos was the 49.00 in the 400 meters by Lemieux to place second in the race. It's at #18 for Division III.
Harry Rienecker-Found won the high jump with a 6'4 3/4" (1.95m) mark, while Drew Svoboda took first in the long jump at 22'6 1/4" (6.86m). Zsikla's 43'10 1/2" (13.37m) in the triple jump for second place was Tufts' season-best in the event still early in the 2022 outdoor campaign.
The Jumbos' 49 team points scored were behind first-place MIT (71.5) and runner-up RPI (54).
