SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team earned a top-10 finish at the 2022 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championships which finished up at Bryant University on Saturday.
Sophomore Ryan Proulx was the All-New England runner-up (the meet features Division I, II and III competitors) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a 9:17.91 PR. The time ranks #31 nationally as of Saturday evening.
The Jumbo 4x400-meter relay also had a stand-out performance. The foursome of Alex Lemieux, Andrii Campbell, Noah Turner and Luke Botsford combined on a 3:14.93 finish that was fourth at the race and ranks #14 in Division III.
Botsford individually timed 21.46 seconds for fourth place in the 200 meters final, the second-fastest time in his career for the event.
Ben Stein moved up to a fifth-place finish in the decathlon on Saturday, compiling a 5977 score that is #34 in the country. He matched his PR with 3.90m clearance in the pole vault (12'9 1/2") and amassed 767 points for a 4:26.57 time in the 1500.
Tufts accumulated 26 points to place ninth at the meet.
