WILLIAMSTOWN - Tufts junior Carter Rosewell placed second in the decathon with a 6087 score at the New England Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Williams College on Friday.
After scoring 3357 points in the first five events on Thursday, Roswell had another strong day Friday recording PR's in four of the five events to reach his career-best point total in the decathlon. He posted PR's of 16.08 in the 110-meter hurdles (724 points), 28.79m (94'5") in the discus throw for 441 points, a 3.80m (12'5 1/2") pole vault for 562 points and a 4:49.44 time in the 1,500 meters (622). Rosewell, whose score is ranked 14th nationally as of Friday evening at 9 pm, finished behind only Liam Evans from Bates College's 6167 score.
Jumbo Cole Anderson finished the decathlon with a 4183 score for ninth place.
The Jumbos also had a pair of scorers in other events on Friday. Connor Giersch ran 32:36.94 for eighth in the 10,000 meters and Eric Meyer was also eighth with a 47.52m (155'11") hammer throw.
Tufts has scored 10 team points at the meet heading into Saturday.
