Carter Rosewell finished the first day of action in the heptathlon in first place, highlighting action at the Tufts Branwen Smith-King Invitational inside Gantcher Field House Friday.
Rosewell finished the opening day of competition with 2670 points to lead the group of seven, while teammate
Cole Anderson is fifth after the first four events. In the 60 meter dash, Rosewell finished first with a time of 7.14 seconds for 833 points. Anderson started the afternoon with a time of 7.82 in the 60 meter dash, marking 628 points to his ledger.
In the long jump, Rosewell once again earned the top spot with a leap of 6.53 meters for 704 points. Anderson recorded a long jump of 5.40 meters to pick up 461 points. In the shot put, Anderson would win the event with a heave of 11.11 meters for 553 points. Rosewell was right behind his teammate in second place in the shot put, as he posted 523 points after a toss of 10.62 meters.
The final event of the night was the high jump and Rosewell once again finished first overall in the event after clearing 1.78 meters for 610 points. Anderson cleared 1.51 meters for 396 points to conclude day one with 2023 points.
Rosewell leads Justin Thuotte of Regis College and his 2342 points, while Elijah Sleasman of Wentworth Institute of Technology is third with 2227 points.
The final three events will take place Saturday morning, as the second and final day of competition at the Branwen Smith-King Invitational starts at 9 a.m. in Gantcher Field House.
