SPRINGFIELD, MA (February 18, 2023) -- The Tufts University men's track and field squad performed well Saturday at the 2023 Springfield College Triangle Classic.
Junior
Alex Lemieux had a great day in the 60 meter dash, as he finished fourth in preliminaries with a 7.16 seconds, and then followed in finals with a time of 6.98 seconds to earn the victory.
Luke Botsford also finished fifth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.11.
Sophomore
Naheim Washington posted a strong time of 23.34 in the 200 meter dash to finish third overall, junior
Kyle Bouchard was seventh overall with a 24.12. Botsford was a winner in the 400 meters after running a 49.93, while Lemieux was the runner-up with a time of 50.91. Sophomore
Ethan Forde was third in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:25.16, and
Liam O'Hara finished fourth after running a 1:25.39.
First-year
Charlie Koenig was fifth overall in the 1000 meter run after posting a time of 2:50.75, and
Martin Horne recorded a time of 4:29.17 to finish fourth overall.
In the 3000 meter run, Amokrane Oouchiche was fifth overall after running a 8:49.49, and sophomore
David Manning took 10th place after running an 8:53.12. First-year Cameron McLeon posted a personal-best time of 8.67 in the 60 meter hurdles, and
Sam Nissen ranked fifth after running a time of 8.77.
In the high jump, sophomore Karten Kropp took second place after clearing a height of 1.85 meters, and
Edward Kiboma was seventh with a mark of 1.85 meters but in more attempts.
Liam Garrison cleared a personal-best 4.45 meters in the pole vault for third place, while sophomore
Ryan Vu chalked up a personal-best mark in the long jump of 6.41 meters for fifth place.
First-year
Casey Lambert was fourth overall in the triple jump with a collegiate-best mark of 12.55 meters.
In the shot put,
Matthew Carey was fifth after finishing with a heave of 13.16 meters, and
Tre Williams was ninth after a mark of 12.03 meter.
Sophomore
Eric Meyer was fourth in the weight throw with a mark of of 14.95 meters, and
Derek Schmaeling took sixth place after a toss of 13.75 meters. First-year
Martin Decker also was seventh with a 13.64 meter throw.
The Jumbos will travel to the Division III New England Championships next weekend, starting on Friday, February 24 at 11:30 a.m. at The TRACK at New Balance in Brighton.
