Harry Rienecker-Found won the high jump, sophomore
Ross Miller was first in the javelin throw and the Jumbo weight men contributed huge points as the Tufts men's outdoor track & field team won the Snowflake Classic at home on Dussault Track Saturday.
The Jumbos compiled 118 team points to win the meet over second-place Babson College (91) and third-place Trinity College (84).
Reinecker-Found cleared 2.00m (6'6 ¾") to win the high jump and earn a tie for the #4 mark in the nation. Miller's 54.45m (178'7") javelin heave was a PR and now ranks 22nd in Division III. Both winners were backed up by strong performances as sophomore
Karsten Kropp tied for second in the high jump at 1.80m (5'10 ¾"), and freshman
Randy Hamilton took fifth in the jav (48.66m - 159'7").
Sophomore
Eric Meyer was Tufts' top finisher in the hammer throw and the discus throw, with distances of 46.80m (153'6") for second in the hammer and a 40.20m (131'10") that was fourth in the discus, respectively. Junior
Louis Tuccio led Tufts in the shot put where his 14.05m (46'1 ¼") was fourth and moved him up to #42 nationally.
Tufts accumulated 43Â points in the shot, hammer and discus combined. They had four scorers in the hammer, with freshman
Martin Decker third at 44.10m (144'8"), Tuccio sixth with a 39.89m (130'10") and sophomore
Derek Schmaeling who PR'd in seventh at 39.58m (129'10"). Sophomore
Petey Lemmon was fifth in the shot (13.29m - 43'7 ¼") and seventh in the discus (37.71m - 123'8"), while classmate
Matthew Carey scored sixth in the shot (12.33m - 40'5 ½") and fifth in the discus (38.18m - 125'3" PR).
Junior
Ryan Vu went 6.39m (20'11 ¾") for second in the long jump, while freshman
Sahr Matturi was the triple jump runner-up in a 13.07m (42'10") effort. Freshman
Casey Lambert was sixth in the long jump, going 6.12m (20'1").
Tufts also scored big in the 400 meters with three in the top six. Freshman
Cam McLeod was the runner-up at 50.88 seconds, freshman
Luke Miller ran fourth (51.62) and freshman
Liam O'Hara placed sixth (51.86). Sophomore
Josh Schwartz ran 1:59.93 for fifth in the 800, junior
Jackson O'Toole's 4:11.94 was sixth in the 1500 and sophomore
Martin Horne PR'd with a 15:45.64 for seventh in the 5,000. Senior
Willy White qualified out of the prelims in the 110 hurdles with a 16.04 mark, but did not run in the final.
The Jumbos are at RPI with Bates College next Saturday.
