TROY, NY (April 8, 2023) --
Luke Botsford posted a pair of NCAA Division III Top 15 times on Saturday at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, helping lead the Tufts University men's track and field squad to a victory in a tri-meet against host RPI and Bates College from the East Campus Athletic Village.
Botsford posted a victory in the 200 meter dash, running a personal-best time of 21.28 for the fifth-best time in the nation after Saturday's action. He then followed that up with another win in the 400 meter dash, running a 47.94 for the 11th best time in the country so far this season.
First-year
Josh Wilkie was also a winner in the 110 hurdles, as he ran a 15.37 for the win. Teammate Cameron McLeod also chalked up a win in the 400 meter hurdles, as ran a 55.83. In the long jump,
Sahr Matturi secured a win a personal-best jump of 6.69 meters, while teammate
Ryan Vu was third after registering a mark of 6.52 meters.
Matturi was also a winner in the triple jump, as he enjoyed a great day with another collegiate-best mark of 13.53 meters. In the 100 meters,
Noah Turner ran a personal-best time of 11.04 seconds in the prelims and equaled that in the finals to finish second overall. Turner then finished third in the 200 meters as well with a time of 22.26 seconds.
Ethan Forde ran a personal-best time in the 200 meter dash of 22.77 for fifth place, and followed that with a runner-up performance in the 400 meters run of 49.90 seconds.
Marcus Hardy finished second in the 800 meters after crossing the line in 1:55.69, and
Ivan Appleton was third in the 1500 meter run after tallying a time of 3:58.12.
Ryan Proulx was also fourth in the 1500 meters with a personal-best time of 3:59.91.
The Tufts 4x400 meter relay of
Sawyer Wilson, Hardy,
Jackson O'Toole and
Chris Tilton was second with a time of 3:28.90.
In field action,
Harry Rienecker-Found was runner-up after clearing a height of 1.95 meters, and
Hunter Farrell took second place in the pole vault after getting over the bar at 4.10 meters.
Liam Garrison tied with Farrell in the pole vault, as both failed out at 4.25 meters.
Louis Tuccio was second in the shot put with a toss of 14.40 meters, and
Petey Lemmon was also fourth in the shot with a mark of 13.78 meters.
Eric Meyer finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 40.52 meters, also leading the way for Tufts in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.01 meters.
Ross Miller and
Milo Goode were third and fourth in the javelin with distances of 50.87 and 50.82 meters, respectively.
Tufts will head to the Carla Coffey Invitational Friday, April 14 at Smith College, while also sending some runners to the Connecticut College Silfen Elite Distance Meet the day day in New London, CT.
