MEDFORD, MA (May 18, 2023) - The Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team had 11 athletes competing at the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday.
The meet was a last opportunity for competitors to improve their marks in order to qualify for the NCAA Championships. No Jumbos were able to do that, but a few PRs were set.
Junior
Liam Garrison cleared 4.59m (15'0 ¾") in the pole vault, improving his personal best from 4.49m (14'8 ¾").
In the hurdle events, freshmen
Cam McLeod had a time of 15.50 seconds in the 110-hurdles finals for his season-best. Freshmen Märten Tropp at 55.88 seconds and
Josh Wilkie at 57.42 seconds added season-bests in the 400-hurdles event.
In the running events sophomore
Ethan Forde went 51.20 in the 400, while the 800 had Jumbo seniors
Evan Ensslin (1:57.03) and
Sawyer Wilson (1:54.30) in action. Sophomore
Ivan Appleton finished the 3000-meter steeplechase in a 9:21.36 time.
For field athletes, sophomore
Karsten Kropp cleared 1.93m (6'4") in the high jump and in the javelin throw junior
Milo Goode had a 50.76m (166'6") heave and freshman
Randy Hamilton threw 41.99m (137'9)".
NCAA berths will be announced tomorrow. The 2023 Outdoor Championships are May 25-27 at the Polisseni Track & Field Complex in Rochester, NY.
