KINGS POINT, NY (May 28, 2023) – On day two of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Team Racing Championships on Long Island Sound Sunday, the opening round robin of 16 teams was completed and Tufts placed 13th with a 4-11 overall record.
The Jumbos were not one of the top eight teams to move on to a round of eight which will be contested on Sunday. Tufts will have a 13th-place finish at the national regatta.
In seven races on Sunday, Tufts posted a 2-5 record. They had a win with a perfect 1-2-3 score over Fordham University and a victory with first, fourth and fifth finishes over the University of Pennsylvania.
Tufts' losses today came against Roger Williams University, Harvard University, St. Mary's College (MD), Dartmouth College and Tulane University. The Jumbos had 3-4-5 finishes against Harvard and a 1-5-6 scoring line versus St. Mary's.
Harvard, Stanford, Yale, Roger Williams, Dartmouth, Brown University, US Coast Guard Academy and St. Mary's advanced to the next round of eight. For the final results, Harvard won the national championship with a 20-2 overall record. Stanford was second with an 18-4 mark.
