BOSTON, MA (February 25, 2024) - Junior
Sarah Firth cleared a season-best 3.83m (12'6 ¾") in the pole vault to lead the Tufts University women's indoor track & field team at the New England Division III Championships on Sunday.
The Jumbos compiled 30 points as a team to finish 10th overall at the meet. MIT won the Division III regional title with a 130.33 score.
Competing at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Firth's effort was third at the meet and now ranks eighth in Division III.
Tufts'
Lexi Dean and
Rose Kitz combined to score nine points in the 1000 meters today. Dean's 3:00.32 for a PR was fourth overall, while Kitz also PR'd at 3:02.81 for fifth place.
Jordan Andrew scored for the Jumbos in both the long and triple jumps. Her 11.16m (36'7 ½") in the triple jump placed sixth, while she finished eighth in the long jump at 5.30m (17'4 ¾").
Maelynn Ugokwe added an eighth in the triple (11.03m - 36'2 ¼"), which is her indoor career-best.
Tufts scored in all three relays with times that were season-bests for each. The 4x400-meter foursome of
Anne-Sophie Janssen,
Emma Smith,
Antonia Knoth,
Annika Kral placed seventh in 4:01.82. In the 4x800-meter race,
Julia Dolce,
Amelia Neiman,
Taylor Neldner and Dean combined on a 9:45.82 mark that finished eighth. For the seventh-place distance medley relay, Tufts' 12:43.72 was run by
Katya Henisz, Janssen,
Sonia Olson, and
Sophia Carpenter.
Knoth also scores in the 600-meter race with her 1:39.73 time finishing eighth.
Tufts had scored four points for a fifth-place finish by
Maddy Silveira in the pentathlon which finished on Saturday.
Next up for the Jumbos is the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAA) Championships again at The TRACK at New Balance next Friday and Saturday (Mar. 1-2).
