MEDFORD, MA (February 3, 2024) -- Graduate student
Carter Rosewell had a monster weekend in the heptathlon, setting the school record as the Tufts University men's track and field squad competed in the second of two days of the Tufts Cupid Challenge inside Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center Saturday.
Rosewell was the individual winner of the event, as he finished with a point total of 4913, breaking the school record of 4900 set by Mike Blair in 2013. On the weekend, Rosewell posted personal-best marks in three of the seven events, including the shot put (11.03 meters), 60 hurdles (8.76 seconds) and 1000 meter run (2:52.11). Rosewell was first or second in all but one event, as he finished the weekend with the nation's eighth-best heptathlon point total thus far this season. Teammate

Ryan Vu was once again strong in the long jump for the Jumbos, as he picked up another individual victory with a leap of 6.75 meters. The jump, which came on his second of six attempts, was a personal-best. The high jump crew was another highlight for the Jumbos, as Tufts put four competitors in the top five spots.

Harry Rienecker-Found won the event with a mark of 2.01 meters, while
Karsten Kropp posted a new personal-best mark of 2.01 meters for third play. Junior
Edward Kiboma was fourth after clearing 1.96 meters, and first-year
Sami Witta was fifth after getting over 1.96 meters as well. Kropp's mark places him 16th in the nation, while Witta and Kiboma are 33rd in the nation.
In the 4x400 meter relay, Tufts posted a fantastic time of 3:19.77 (3:16.64 converted) to win the event thanks to the efforts of
Neil Chowdhury,
Alex Lemieux,
Ethan Forde and
Luke Botsford. The time is currently sixth-best in the country.

Jackson O'Toole put together a great race in the 800 meters, as he was third overall on Saturday after racing to a personal-best time of 1:55.27. The time was a New England qualifying time, and he currently ranks 21st in the country with that effort.

Luke Botsford was once again strong in the 60 meters, as he won all three races on the day while decreasing his time each heat. In the prelims, Botsford was the top qualifier with a time of 7.00 seconds, and then ran a 6.97 in the semifinals to advance to the finals. In the finals, he posted a personal-best 6.94 seconds to earn the victory. He sits just outside the NCAA Top 50 with the time.
Sophomore Cameron McLeod was fifth in the 600 meters with a time of 1:24.16, a New England Championships qualifying time. First-year
Simon Donovan ran a 2:33.10 in the 1000 meters to take second place while ranking inside the Tufts first-year Top 10. Classmate Harris Gulbranson was seventh in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:41.77, ranking inside the first-year Top 10 at Tufts with his effort while also qualifying for the New England Championships with the mark.
Junior
Jay Sharma was seventh in the 60 hurdles after posting a time of 8.79 seconds and McLeod took sixth after posting an 8.77. In the pole vault, senior
Liam Garrison cleared 4.25 meters to take third place and qualify for the New England Championships. The Tufts 4x800 meter relay of Donovan,
Quinn Hampson, O'Toole and
Walter Wagude was also a winner, crossing the line in 8:04.15. In the 400 meters,
Alex Lemieux was sixth overall after running a time of 51.48.
Senior
Louis Tuccio posted a New England Championships-qualifying effort of 14.51 meters in the shot put to take third place overall, while also posting a heave of 15.47 meters in the weight throw to take fourth place. Sophomore
Tre Williams also qualified for the New England Championships with a personal-best mark of 14.67 meters for sixth place.
Tufts will now regroup and get back to action this upcoming weekend, competing in a pair of events on Saturday, February 10 at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the MIT Invitational.
