BOSTON (February 9, 2024) -- The Tufts University women's track and field competed at the 2024 Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational Friday night, starting a busy week of action for the Jumbos.
In the 3000 meters,
Elizabeth Donahue was the leading finisher for Tufts as she ran a personal-best time of 10:16.30. First-year
Taylor Neldner also competed in the 3000 meters, running a 10:41.80 on the afternoon. In the 60 meter hurdles, senior
Sarah Pillone finished 17th in the prelims, running a 9.09.
The 800 meter run had six runners for the Jumbos as
Emma Smith just missed a personal-best time with a 2:19.43.
Eugenie Horisberger set a new season-best time with a 2:21.80, while
Amelia Neiman rank a 2:23.08.
Emily Sverak crossed the line with a time of 2:24.33, senior
Antonia Knoth recorded a time of 2:24.39 and
Kaya West finished with a 2:30.73.
The 400 meters saw senior
Annika Kral take 99th place overall out of 215 runners, recording a time of 59.10, while sophomore
Anne-Sophie Janssen ran a time of 1:00.79 for a new personal-best time. Kral was back on the track for the 200 meters, as she ran a 26.41, and first-year
Simisola Lawal was Tufts' top finisher after racing to a time of 26.16 for 102nd place out of over 230 runners.
The Jumbos put five runners into the mile, and
Grace Ogden was the leading finisher for Tufts as she raced to a time of 5:12.22 for a new personal-best time.
Lexi Dean was right behind her with a 5:13.71, and senior
Rose Kitz crossed the finish line with a time of 5:19.69 for another personal-best time.
Samantha Fellman also ran a 5:22.07 and
Sonia Olson came in after running a 5:27.77.
The squad will head to the MIT Invitational on Saturday morning with action starting at 10 a.m. in Cambridge, MA.
