MYRTLE BEACH, SC (March 15, 2024) -- The second day of the Tufts University men's outdoor track and field season got underway on Friday afternoon from Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium, as the Jumbos competed in the 2024 Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
The Jumbos saw first-year
Neil Chowdhury run the best time of the four competitors in the 100m dash, as he posted a time of 11.03 seconds for 20th place in the prelims. Sophomore
Sam Nissen ran a time of 11.13 seconds in the prelims, while junior
Naheim Washington ran a 11.29 for 41st place. First-year Charlie Fitzpatrick also crossed the line in 11.33 seconds.
In the prelims of the 110m high hurdles, junior
Cole Anderson was 18th in the prelims with a time of 19.42 seconds. In the semifinals of the 110m hurdles, sophomore
Josh Wilkie qualified for Saturday's finals with a time of 15.35 seconds. Sophomore Cameron McLeod was just behind him with a time of 15.89 seconds for 10th place.
In the open men's 400m dash, Fitzpatrick ran a strong time of 51.14 seconds to finish third overall, while sophomore
Casey Lambert raced to a time of 53.60 seconds.
In the javelin throw, the Jumbos saw a pair of personal-best throws as sophomore
Randy Hamilton was third overall after posting a new career-best throw of 59.43 meters. Junior
Milo Goode was sixth overall in the javelin with a 58.24 meter throw, while Anderson also competed in the javelin in preparation for his outdoor multi season and posted a mark of 38.59 meters.
The long jump also saw first-year
Sami Witta register a mark of 6.07 meters for 29th overall, and Anderson chalked up a final distance of 4.88 meters.
The third and final day of action from the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational will take place Saturday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, SC starting at 9 a.m.
