WORCESTER, MA (May 11, 2024) -- The Tufts University men's track and field squad finished as the top Division III school in a mostly Division I and II field, taking third place overall at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships hosted at The College at Holy Cross.
The Tufts 4x100 relay posted a 41.68 to earn the victory, earning 10 points thanks to the efforts of
Naheim Washington,
Alex Lemieux,
Noah Turner and
Luke Botsford. The 4x400 relay also was solid, taking silver medalist honors as Lemieux,
Neil Chowdhury, Turner and Botsford ran a 3:14.25 for a season-best time. The time ranks 21st nationally after Saturday's action.
In the decathlon, senior
Carter Rosewell earned the victory after tallying 6467 points on the weekend. Rosewell's point total is the 14th-most in the nation this year, and the NCAA takes the Top 22 entries in each event to the NCAA Championships.
In the shot put,
Petey Lemmon finished eighth in the scoring with a toss of 15.56 meters while
Louis Tuccio was 15th overall with a 14.14 meter mark. The discus saw Lemmon earn 15th after his toss of 43.89 meters.
The high jump saw the Jumbos earn a total of 22 points, led by the victory by senior
Harry Rienecker-Found and his season-best 2.01 meter mark. Teammate
Edward Kiboma also got over the bar at 2.01 meters, taking silver medalist accolades to pick up eight points. Tufts'
Karsten Kropp finished with a cleared height of 1.91 meters for fifth place.
On the track, Botsford was second in the 400 meters after running a 47.48 in the finals. In the 110m hurdle finals, sophomore
Josh Wilkie raced to a bronze medal with a time of 14.48 seconds, just off his season-best of 14.41 seconds.
Sophomore Cameron McLeod also scored for the Jumbos in the 400 meter hurdles, running a time of 54.22 seconds to take sixth place.
Tufts will likely head to a few last chance meets this week before the announcement of the NCAA Championships field Friday, May 17.
