CAMBRIDGE, MA (May 16, 2024) -- The Tufts University men's track and field squad made its final claims for the field at the 2024 NCAA Championships on Thursday evening, competing at the MIT Final Chance meet.
Senior
Luke Botsford raced to a runner-up finish in the 200 meter dash, posting a time of 21.25 seconds. In the 400 meters,
Ethan Forde just missed his personal-best time with a third-place time of 49.71 seconds.
Sophomore
Josh Wilkie ran a time of 15.19 seconds for third place in the 110m hurdles, while Cameron McLeod took fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 54.33 seconds. Junior
Jay Sharma was also right behind him in seventh place after chalking up a time of 55.74 seconds.
The Tufts high jump crew was once again strong on Thursday, as
Edward Kiboma was the gold medalist with a height of 2.01 meters. Teammate
Harry Rienecker-Found was runner-up with the same height of 2.01 meters, while
Karsten Kropp took third after posting a final mark of 1.96 meters.
Sami Witta was also 10th with a height of 1.86 meters.
The long jump featured three Jumbo competitors, as
Alex Lemieux finished with a final mark of 7.22 meters for third place.
Carter Rosewell was fourth with a leap of 6.91 meters, and
Sahr Matturi was 10th with a 6.42 meter attempt.
In the shot put,
Petey Lemmon took sixth place after recording a mark of 14.86 meters, while
Louis Tuccio just missed his personal-best with a 14.55 meter throw. Sophomore Tre' Williams was also 11th with a toss of 13.31 meters.
Eric Meyer took ninth in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.14 meters, and Tuccio was 19th after his final mark of 44.97 meters coming on his second of three throws.
Milo Goode also was 11th in the javelin after his throw of 46.93 meters.
