National Champion Field Hockey Places Four on NFHCA All-Region Team

MEDFORD, MA (December 3, 2025) - Four members of the NCAA champion Tufts University field hockey team earned NFHCA All-Region awards announced today.

Senior forward Hannah Biccard, senior goalie Lydia Eastburn and junior defender Claire Casey are on the NHFCA Region II first team. Sophomore midfielder Eleanor Luft is was named to the second team. The four Jumbos helped Tufts win its second NCAA title and tie the school record for victories with a 19-3 record.

The Jumbos' three first-team honorees are the most in the region. Their four overall selections matched Bates College for the most on the team. Eastburn garnered All-Region first team honors for the second straight season, while Biccard, Casey and Luft receive the recognition for the first time.

Eastburn started all 23 games and played in 1,222 of the team's 1,342 minutes in goal for a Jumbo team that posted a 0.98 goals against average. She had a shutout (1-0) against #1 in the nation and previously unbeaten Christopher Newport University (CNU) in the national semifinals, then made four key stops when Tufts defeated Johns Hopkins University 2-1 in overtime to win the national championship. Eastburn helped Tufts record seven shutouts overall (four of her own) and had a season-best 10 saves in a key win over Wesleyan University.

Biccard finished the season with 17 goals and six assists for 40 points, the most goals by a Tufts player since 2010. She scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Jumbos past Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Final. She also assisted on the lone goal in the national semifinals and was named the Most Outstanding Player at the "Final Four". Earlier in the year, Biccard recorded five goals in a win at Colby College to tie the school record for goals in a game. Her 17 goals and 40 points both led the conference, and she had a six-game goal scoring streak in the middle of the season with five of the games in conference play.

Along with her strong defensive play, Casey was a leading offensive contributor on the penalty corner attack for the Jumbos. For the defense that allowed 22 goals in 22 games, she was credited with four defensive saves this year including in the NCAA "Elite 8" win over Bates and in the national semifinal versus CNU. After scoring one goal and an assist in 2024, Casey emerged as a key striker on corners this season and finished third on the team in scoring with 21 points on eight goals and five assists. She tallied two goals in the team's win at Bowdoin College.

Luft also played a key role both defensively and offensively for the Jumbos. With Luft and her defensive mates consistently tackling opponents on rushes towards the Tufts goal, the Jumbos allowed just 94 total shots on goal this season which is an average of 4.27 per game. She also played a lead role in transitioning the Jumbos to offense with her strong strikes of the ball. Luft added a goal with three assists for five points, the goal coming in a 3-1 regular-season victory against Bates in a mid-season, first-place showdown between the teams.

All four Tufts players also earned NESCAC All-Conference honors for 2025. Biccard and Casey were on the first team, while Easburn and Luft made the second team.
