NORTHAMPTON, MA (April 12, 2025) - The Tufts University men's track and field team woke up this morning to a ghastly sight; a few inches of snow covering the ground. Despite this, day two of the Carla Coffey Invitational went on at Smith College, and the Jumbos performed well in spite of the harsh weather to finish off the competition.
The day started with a win in the high jump thanks to the efforts of senior
Karsten Kropp. His mark of 1.95m was the 61st best jump in the NCAA Division III, and was the best jump in the field by 5 cm.Â
First year
Seneca Wallace took eighth place in the long jump with a 5.86m. The rookie also set a new personal best in the triple jump, landing ninth with a 12.58m.Â
Junior
Tre Williams brought the second win of the day home for Tufts, taking first place in the shot put. His 13.31m throw landed him just ahead of sophomore
Nahom Tsegaye in second with a 12.83m. It was a nice day for Williams as he also set a new personal best in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.42m.
Senior
Eric Meyer made it another podium on the weekend, taking second place in the discus throw. His mark of 40.18m was under a meter shy of his personal best.Â
The final event of the day, the triple jump, saw senior
Naheim Washington bring home seventh place with a 12.78m in his first field event of the weekend.
The Jumbos will return to the Ellis Oval for the Tufts University Sunshine Classic with hopefully better weather in store as they host a litany of New England teams on Saturday, April 19 at 10:00 am.
