MIDDLETOWN, CONN. (April 26, 2025) - The Tufts University men's track and field team took third place at the 2025 New England Small College Athletic Conference Outdoor Men's Track and Field Championships on the campus of Wesleyan University.
The day began with
Noah Turner setting a new personal best in the 400m run. The senior took seventh with a time of 48.66, the 74th best time in the NCAA Division III. Turner also took seventh in the 200m dash, taking the spot with a 22.11.
Soon after, Cameron McLeod and
Jay Sharma broke their personal records with consecutive finishes in the 400m hurdles. McLeod took fifth with a 52.81 and Sharma was sixth with a 55.06. Both marks were within the Top 100 in the NCAA Division III.
Quinn Hampson also set a new personal best in the 1500m run. The junior finished fourth with a time of 3:55.18 for the 84th best time in the NCAA Division III.
Gabe Grove, the lone Jumbo running in the 3000m steeplechase, set a new personal best with a seventh place finish in 9:35.89.
Jonah Reisner took second in the 5000m run, ahead of
Quinn Hampson who set a new personal best for the second time on the day with a 14:41.51.
Harris Gulbransen also set a new personal best in the event, taking 10th with a 14:49.30.
The Jumbos saw several second place finishes on the field, with
Edward Kiboma taking second in the high jump to lead off the day. His mark of 1.93m was just shy of the first place jumper from Middlebury.
Randy Hamilton took second in the javelin throw with a mark of 55.10m, and
Sahr Matturi took second in the long jump with a 7.00m jump.
Luke Benson finished the day with a second place finish in the triple jump, setting the 26th best mark in the NCAA Division III with a 14.20m jump.
