AMHERST, MA (April 5, 2025) - The Tufts University men's outdoor track and field team as they continued their strong performance in the fresh air with a great finish to the Amherst Spring Fling at Amherst College on Saturday.
Battling the rainy conditions out West, the Jumbos reached the podium for the first time thanks to a second place finish by senior
Noah Turner in the 400m. His finish in 48.80 was the 33rd best time in the NCAA Division III this season.Â
First year
Liam Lucas stepped up in the 800m run, taking fourth place with a personal best time of 1:55.88. The personal record was the 80th best time in the NCAA Division III as well.
The Jumbos first win of the day came in the 1500m run, as junior
Quinn Hampson took first place with a 3:55.51. The personal best mark was also the 26th best time in the NCAA Division III. Junior
Calvin Cummings followed up Hampson's win with a victory of his own, taking first place in the 3000m Steeplechase with a personal best time of 9:24.31.Â
On the field, senior
Edward Kiboma led off the day with a win in the high jump, finishing with a 1.98m mark for the 24th best jump in the NCAA Division III. Fellow senior
Karsten Kropp was just behind him in third place with a 1.93m for the 56th best mark in the NCAA Division III.
Seniors
Naheim Washington and
Eric Meyer each rounded off the day with fourth place finishes. For Washington, it came in the triple jump. He took the spot with a second best career jump of 12.54m. Meyer took fourth in the hammer throw, also setting his second best career mark with a toss of 50.91m.Â
The Jumbos performed well on the day despite yet another weekend of adverse weather. They will take the week to rest before heading to Northampton to compete in the Smith College Carla Coffey Invitational on Friday and Saturday.Â
