MEDFORD, MA (June 24, 2025) - Five Tufts University student-athletes have earned places on the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field / Cross Country Team, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic performances.
The Jumbos receiving the honor this year are 2025 Tufts University graduates
Ethan Forde,
Alex Friedman,
Eric Meyer and
Noah Turner along with rising senior
Sahr Matturi.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a significant contributor to the team with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution. A limit of five nominations per team is set. In Track & Field / Cross Country, nominees must be ranked among the Top 50 in the region in at least one event (XC, indoor or outdoor).
Forde (electrical engineering degree), Matturi (biology major), Meyer (applied environmental studies degree) and Turner (economics degree) were all scoring contributors at the New England Division III Outdoor Championship and NESCAC Championship track & field meets in the spring, where Tufts placed second and third, respectively. Friedman (economics degree) was a leading scorer during the cross country season in which Tufts was an NCAA team qualifier.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes track & field / cross country honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Select Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on July 16.
