BOSTON, MA (January 31, 2026) - Senior
Cullen McCaleb and the 4x400-meter relay ran the best of the team's several nationally-ranked times today as the Tufts men's indoor track & field team competed at the John Thomas Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University.
McCaleb led seven Jumbos who competed in the mile at BU - out of 230 entrants overall. Running on the banked track at BU, McCaleb's 4:09.24 time ranks him among the top 10 nationally as of Saturday afternoon. The finish also makes him #3 all-time in the event at Tufts. He already holds a top 10 national mark and school record for the 3,000 meters (8:10.46) as he continues a strong senior year that includes a cross country All-American award.
The Tufts 4x400-meter relay recorded a 3:18.59 time that will be around 10th nationally after all of the day's results are submitted. Sophomore

Josh Wilkie were the Jumbo foursome which combined to finish ninth in the event (28 teams).
Junior
Sam Kurian will be in or near the DIII top 20 for the 800 meters following today's 1:53.95 time. It's his indoor PR. The same is true for freshman distance runner Christopher Hovet, who debuted today in the 5000 meters with a 14:42.53 time that will be around top 20 for Division III.
Running In his first-ever mile on the track, junior
Harris Gulbransen was behind McCaleb with a 4:12.30 mark that is a top 25 DIII time and #8 at Tufts. Senior
Quinn Hampson's 4:14.47 was a PR and top 35 time for DIII. Sophomore
Gabe Grove's 5,000 time of 15:03.74 will be just outside of the top 50 nationally.
Wilkie also ran his indoor PR and took the #5 spot at Tufts all-time for the 200 indoors with a time of 22.21 seconds today.
Among six Jumbos in the 800 event overall, other PR's were recorded by sophomore
Liam Lucas (1:56.47) and indoor bests from juniors
Ryan Regan (1:57.03) and
Ryder Want (1:59.48). For the mile, junior
Charlie Krebs (4:28.82) and sophomore
Lucas Klein (4:29.59) both registered PR's.
Cohen also had his PR in 400 (50.01) at BU today. Senior
William Cusato ran for Tufts in the 1000 meters and crossed the finish line in 2:29.76. Freshman
Collett Kinobe led Tufts in the triple jump (13.67m / 44'10 ¼"), while classmate Will Burch was the first of three Jumbos who finished the 3000 meters with his 8:49.16 mark.
Today's meet at BU did not include team scoring.
The Jumbos will host the Tufts Invitational for their next action a week from today at the Gantcher Center.
