Gulbransen's 5000 Meters Mark Tops Busy Friday for Men's Track & Field

BOSTON / MEDFORD, MA (February 13, 2026) - Harris Gulbransen continued his excellent junior season on Friday by running one of the fastest times in the nation for the 5000 meters as the Tufts University men's indoor track & field team had a busy day competing at both the Tufts Cupid Challenge and Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

Gulbransen's career-best 14:16.20 time in the 5000 came on the banked track at BU and ranks seventh nationally as of Friday evening. The mark also makes him #2 all-time in the event at Tufts, behind only record-holder Ivan Appleton (14:11.13). Junior Jonah Reisner was also in the 5000 at BU today and had a 14:46.73 finish that is his indoor PR and top 30 national time.

The Jumbos had another strong national performance at BU from junior Sam Kurian. His 1:52.47 in the 800 meters is the team's best time in the event this year, his indoor PR and improves his national ranking into the top 20. He now ranks fifth all-time at Tufts with today's time. Freshman Charlie Jacques added a solid 1:54.03 time in the 800 as well, near the national top 50.

The meet at BU also featured the team's season-best time in the 200 meters of 22.09 seconds from freshman Jack Davis. He also jumped into the team's top five with his mark today. Classmate Eliot Monick PR'd with a 22.60 in the event. 

Other PR's at BU came from senior Josh Wilkie in the 400 meters (49.77), senior Cameron McLeod in the 400 meters (49.74 - the team's best mark of the season in the event), sophomore Tejus Verma in the 400 (indoor PR of 49.83) and senior Quinn Hampson in the mile (4:13.47).

Meanwhile, at Tufts' Cupid Challenge, the Jumbos competed in their first multi-event of the season. Junior Ryder Kropiwnicki and sophomore Dylan Moreno were in the heptathlon, and through four events Moreno is third (2619 points) and Kropiwnicki is fourth (2602).

Kropiwnicki PR'd in all four events today, including his 7.20 time in the 60-meter dash which earned him 823 points. He also went 6.45m (22'3 ½") in the long jump for 686 points. Moreno had PR's in three events, with a 7.33 in the 60, a 6.27m (20'7") in the long jump and a 12.07m (39'7 1/4") launch in the shot put, The heptathlon will finish on Saturday with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000 meters.

Tufts also had a pair in the open weight throw event today. Junior Evan Estrada's 10.79m (35'4 ¾") was the team's best mark in the even.

The Jumbos will be in action on day two of the Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday starting at 9 AM.
