Kropiwnicki 3rd, Moreno 4th as New England DIII Indoor Heptathlon Finishes

MEDFORD, MA (February 28, 2026) – Junior Ryder Kropiwnicki and sophomore Dylan Moreno placed third and fourth in the heptathlon, respectively, as the multi-event part of the 2026 New England Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships finished up on Saturday at the Gantcher Center.

After the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1000 meters today, Kropiwnick finished with a total score of 4650 and Moreno had a 4550 final score.

With Kropiwnicki scoring six points for third place and Moreno adding five points for fourth, the Jumbos tallied 11 team points. They are in second place in team scoring for the Championship meet after one event.

Kropiwnicki came out flying today, recording a PR of 8.47 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles for 867 points. It moved him from seventh where he finished Saturday to second after five events today. The mark gives him the #3 ranking in the event all-time at Tufts. He then tied for the best pole vault mark in the field with a 4.40m (14'5 ¼") to maintain second place, but dropped to third after the 1000 meters final event.

Moreno also PR'd in the 60-meter hurdles where his 9.17 time scored 709 points. He moved up to fourth overall after the pole vault, where he cleared 3.70m (12'1 ½"). He was first among the heptathletes in the 1000 at a 2:47.46 finish for a 792 score.

Southern Maine's Christian Burke won the New England DIII indoor heptathlon title with 4822 points.

Both Tufts competitors narrowly missed improving upon their season-best scores in the heptathlon.

The Jumbo team will come together in full for the rest of the New England DIII meet on Sunday at The TRACK at New Balance.
